Diovan HCT is a combination of the prescription medicines Diovan (an angiotensin receptor blocker, or ARB) and a diuretic (water pill) in one convenient tablet.

The Diovan portion works by relaxing your blood vessels so blood flows more easily throughout your body. The diuretic reduces blood volume by eliminating sodium and water from your body through urination. The combination of the two medicines helps lower your blood pressure.
